Nice Press for Concerts in Ludington and Hart on July 7th

We have two great concerts in Ludington (at the Arts Center) and Hart at the Public Library on July 7th.

Nice write up in the Ludington Daily News.

Watch for Photos by Thursday

Watch for lots of photos on Thursday! Having some Internet problems at the hotel. Great photos at Goderich, on Lake Huron and at the London Public Library.

Greetings from Canada

We will be uploading a bunch of photos on Thursday - but have some great ones from London before the rains arrived.

Seems we might have tempted fate with the name of the tour - having two performances changed or shortened because of rain. Oh well...what does not kill us...only makes us stronger (I suppose).

Have a fun day today in Brantford, Burlington and Niagara. Visiting the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre in Brantford for their pools and water slides this morning. We have a picnic lunch planned for the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington. Thanks Garden Fresh Salsa, Flatout, Polly's Country Market and Busch's for all your generous donations. Then off to Lake Ontario, the Welland Canal and an evening in Niagara Falls.

Take care! ReStrung

Fiddlers ReStrung Embarks on Waterbound Summer Tour of the Great Lakes

Fiddlers ReStrung Embarks on Waterbound Summer Tour of the Great Lakes

Every summer, Fiddlers ReStrung, a 15-piece string ensemble made up of students from Saline (MI) High School, embarks on a summer tour that brings their unique blend of American Bluegrass, Celtic fiddle, popular folk, Appalachian Step-dancing, and Progressive Acoustic music to communities and concert halls across the country. This year’s tour is called Waterbound, honoring not only a song on their upcoming CD, but also acknowledging their visit to each of the Great Lakes. From Sunday June 27th through Friday July 9th, ReStrung will perform at 10 venues in Ontario, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Michigan including Goderich (Ontario), the Spring Sunset Music Series at Presque Isle, Ludington (MI) Area Center for the Arts, and the McConnell Arts Center (Worthington, OH). Additionally, ReStrung will also be attending and performing at Christian Howes’ Creative Strings Workshop in suburban Columbus, Ohio, where they will be working with some of the finest artists working on improvisational strings anywhere.

ReStrung consists of students at Saline High School, all of whom share in producing a unique ensemble truly their own. Working alongside leadership, students craft their own arrangements and help make organizational decisions. This collaborative ownership grants ReStrung an authentic creative edge that is clearly visible from the striking energy they portray on stage. Students are chosen based not only on musical talent, but personal maturity as well. They balance a demanding performance schedule while maintaining high standards in other school activities, sports, and academics. ReStrung prides itself on giving back to the community with its annual December concert in support of the USMC ‘s Toys for Tots program and the summer library program that provides concerts for these institutions with tight budgets. Started in 2009, these library programs not only include great music, but ReStrung members also reach out and engage with the children and families in attendance.
